We’re well into the Late Fall Session, and as of today, December is upon us. And I’ve been busy at the studio, both in my personal practice, and in my work on and with classes.
Classes are into the final weeks before the next Dark Salon, on Sunday December 17, and I hope you’ll join us for another evening of non-traditional belly dance. The Dark Salon in October was so mind blowing, with brilliant work from all our students, as well as performances from the (new) Group Performance class.
I’m always so impressed, proud and excited to see everyone perform, and the ways that all the dancers at the studio choose to embody what we work on is so thrilling! From the integration of new technique, to working emotionally or experimentally, the Dark Salon’s are always a wonderful experience!
In my own practice, I’ve been working on integrating some of the concepts I taught in July’s sold out Take It Back Intensive (registration for next year’s opens in just about 30 minutes!), and I’m excited about the kinds of changes it’s made in my own dance. I’ve been working on developing my feet and legs in dance through exploration and improvisation, as well as working with some more abstract music, using unusual pathways.
I’ve also rediscovered some books, which I love to geek out on, and I’m looking forward to the holidays for a chance to grab a blanket, some tea, and dig away at those again.
My Patreon adventures continue, and I’m thrilled at the response that new avenue has given both me and my students. Patreon is an online platform that allows me to offer a range of options and ways of sharing online practices, personal content and inspiration with you! I’ve just completed my first ‘Ask Me Anything’, shared the first stages of a new solo piece I’m working on, and I’m currently putting together ideas for upcoming monthly practice sessions.
I’m off to get ready to open up registration, and man, I’m so excited about all the amazing opportunities I have to share my ideas on dance with you! 2018 is going to be pretty damn epic!!!
